Abhay's eagerness to serve Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati did not diminish with time; he was eager to be accepted formally as his disciple. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta gave Abhay harinama and brahmana initiations at the same ceremony in Allahabad in November 1933. His spiritual master added aravinda (lotus) to Abhay's name and he was now known as Abhay Charanaravinda. Now Abhay was a brahmana who could perform yagna and worship the Deity in the temple and preach the teachings of the Bhagavatam.
